sources of my Helianthus strumosus & Helianthus tuberosus cvs.
If you are looking to buy material for planting please remember that unusual Jerusalem artichokes cultivars may only be available as tubers for a very short period during late Autumn or early Winter. Only a few are available as growing plants, in Spring. The RHS Plant Finder (book) or Find a plant (online) lists very few cultivars as available and even fewer suppliers. You will need to search online and check that the supplier is in the UK and not the EU, South Africa, Canada or the USA. In the last few years a lot more sources are listing named cultivars on the Amazon, Ebay or Etsy, and give you some choice of red or white skinned tubers. Nurseries will probably tell you when to enquire in the autumn when the plant is fully dormant, or for field grown crops after they have lifted their tubers.
If you want an un-named, white-skinned, knobbly type of tuber or the cultivar 'Fuseau' which is not knobbly, but white-skinned) then you may be able to find a source locally. Maybe in an adventurous greengrocer, if you are lucky enough not to have lost them to Supermarkets. There are a few only businesses that sell tubers for direct culinary use, but you are unlikely to get a named cultivar this way.
My tubers or plants came from:
Alyson
Williams
(A friend who lives locally
gave me 'Lemon Queen' to grow for comparison to Collection plants. This cultivar
hasn't produced any tubers at at all. It only grows to 30-60cms but does flower reliably.
However I wouldn't advise against planting it as it spreads by seed and rhizome too much
for the average garden.)

Tony is in Spain but he
managed to supply me with tubers legally through Etsy trading as Huertinadetoni.

can't say this is correct.)
Edulis
Paul Barney sells plants
from his Nursery online from his website or from selected local plant shows and
markets. Although listed by the RHS he has limited supplies, so I would enquire
by email each year.

These three brands are no longer three separate companies and the Jerusalem artichokes
they offer are from the same supplier whichever name you choose.

Alison Tindale. Puts lists of plants available each week on Facebook on Sunday evenings, with a link to the shop page on her
website, where plants available that week are uploaded at 5pm Monday evening. It is a small
business and some plants are only occasionally available in small numbers. The
Jerusalem artichokes and pale-leaf woodland sunflowers she has start appearing
in November, or later, as she harvests. The cultivars available may vary year to year. A
huge amount
of information of unusual perennial vegetables is available in her blogs on the
website.

If you know of any other cultivars available to the UK please let me know as these are all I have been able to find up to now. There are other named cultivars listed in the Republic of Ireland, Canada, Republic of South Africa and the United States of America but all sources I have found only distribute the their own country. If you grow a named cultivar I am willing to swap for any in my collection.
